Highlights A
record 700 hearty and dedicated swimmers participated
in this year's Polar Bear 'Swim for Sight'. The event
is a big boost to community organizations and Lions
Club programs aiding the blind and visually impaired.
Top
fundraisers this year were Dave and Melissa Mika
and their workplace supporters at Independent Health,
Mary Taylor of Burt, Mike Wrobel of Williamsville,
Joseph LoBrutto of Grand Island and Tracy Dehn and
David Corbett of Niagara Falls.
Mrs.
New York State, Jennifer Stahlar and Lions District
Governor, Ken Butkowski provided encouragement and
thanked everyone for their outstanding contributions.
Summer in the southern hemisphere was no distraction
for Matt Maia of Montesclaros, Brazil who was on-hand
for the winter plunge. |
