Polar Bear Day Activities on March 1, 2015

10:00 am - 4:00 pm Tailgate Party parking
11:00 am - 2:00 pm Swim registration
1:45 pm Polar Bear Queen Contest:
Check in at the Lions Pavilion in the park
1:50 pm Swimmers under18
Access times will be scheduled in 15 minute intervals. $100 fundraisers will receive preferred first access!

Follow These Steps:

There are 3 Ways to Raise Funds, Register and Participate ...

  • Go to FirstGiving.com. NEW!Create your personal fundraising page in minutes.  It’s quick, easy and FREE.  Friends can raise money for you and contribute using credit cards and more.  FirstGiving lets you link to your friends using email and social media, track your contributions, share stories and photos... You and your friends everywhere can work together to spread the word, follow your progress and help you meet your goal.

  • Use this website ... Download or use the Sponsor List and Contributions sheet. This sheet helps you keep track of your donations (it’s not required). Raise funds by asking friends, co-workers, family and acquaintances to help you. Many will gladly donate $10, $20 or more!  Use Email, Facebook and other social media to let people know you are participating and need their help.   Submit your contribution using the ‘Donate’ (PayPal) button on this site, or contribute when you arrive to register March 1.

  • Use a time-honored personal touch ... Make personal requests to those you see and ask them to help you.  Raise funds by asking friends, co-workers, family and acquaintances to support you. Many will gladly donate $10, $20 or more!  Download or use the Sponsor List and Contributions sheet (not required).  Submit your contribution when you arrive to register March 1, or give online using the ‘Donate’ (PayPal) button on this site.

All swimmers must check-in onsite March 1.

  • You can download and print the 2015 Registration Form from this site and bring it with you.

  • You can also complete your registration using the FirstGiving website.

  • Registration forms can also be completed when you arrive onsite March 1.

Your donations are submitted safely, securely and electronically when you use FirstGiving or the PayPal ‘Donate’ button on this site.

Cash contributions, checks, credit and debit card donations are accepted when you register on March 1.


Registration Information

There are 3 ways to register ...

  • registration polar bearGo to FirstGiving.com, it takes only minutes to create your Swim fundraising page and register.
  • Go to the Swim website olcottlions.org.  You can download and print the registration form, submit your donation online or bring it with you when you check-in on March 1.
  • Personally collect your donations and complete your registration onsite March 1.
  • All swimmers must register prior to the swim.
    (Minimum swimmer contribution is $25 this year.)
  • Arrive early and submit registration + donations at the Lions Pavilion in the park. Registration starts at 11:00 am.
  • To save time during the registration process ---
    PRINT OUT OUR REGISTRATION FORM (see below) and fill it out ahead of time. Please note: You still must register on-site, provide your contribution and receive your prize on the day of the swim at the Lions Pavilion in Olcott's Krull Park.
    We also have a worksheet that you can use to keep track of your sponsors and their contributions.

Swim for Sight

SWIMMERS: You can submit your collected donations via credit card through PayPal. Be sure to print out and bring a copy of your receipt to the Swim.


Important! Your Swim-for-Sight contribution is a donation and is not refundable.  T-Shirts or other eligible awards must be picked-up in person when you present your receipt and register onsite at the Swim.  We are not able to ship shirts or other awards.


Special Rewards for Raising $100 or More!

  • All swimmers receive a Polar Bear T-shirt.
  • Raise $100 or more and receive a PASS giving you PREFERRED FIRST ACCESS to the beach!
  • Raise $100 or more and receive a unique "Swim for Sight" hoodie.
  • Raise $300 or more and receive a premium quality jacket with "Swim for Sight" logo.

Watch our local fire departments compete in the
Tug-of-War competition in Krull Park!

FUN means SAFETY - It's cold out there!

How’s your health? Water temps will be in the 30’s and the air and wind-chill can be colder.

In order to be a safe Polar Bear, everyone must:

  • Remain in designated safety areas
  • Wear sneakers or protective footwear
  • Obey safety officials
  • Visit Swim For Sight Q & A

Swimmers’ checklist:

  • Sneakers
  • Towel
  • Dry Clothes
  • Blanket
  • Helper*
  • Camera
  • Registration
  • Donation
*Beach access will be limited. Only one helper will be allowed to accompany each swimmer.

Olcott Beach is located on Lake Ontario, off Route 18 at Route 78 North. Less than an hour from Buffalo. Just over an hour from Rochester.

Handicapped parking is available on Ontario Street, above the beach.
